This is what I said in my review of the 12/16/68 Hartbeats show:
"The embryonic-Fire chord sequence Casady plays (about 26 minutes into the second jam with David Getz) is sometimes thought to be taken off the bass riff in Pharaoh Sanders’ 'The Creator Has A Master Plan,' which was in turn based on Coltrane’s 'A Love Supreme.' I think it’s doubtful, but it would be a nice connection."

The band did appreciate Pharoah Sanders work as they awarded him a $10,000 Rex Foundation grant in 1992,and I believe he opened a show for the band in the same year.I would think that all the bay area guys were aware of and possibly influenced by Pharoah's landmark 1966 album Tauhid, which featured the brilliant and ahead of its time guitar work of a young Sonny Sharrock.I could not reference the guitar standout Aum from that album on youtube,I suggest you give a listen to Tauhid if you dig Pharoah.

Upper and Lower Eqypt (or is it the other way around) huge influence on the Stooges. And yes, Mickey used the title a bit later on ...

Yeah those Detroit boys liked some free jazz, the MC5 were heavily influenced by the music and some of Sun Ra's philosophies. Here is a show from 2005 with Wayne Kramer's band DK5,with Handsome Dick Manitoba(Dictators) on vocals and the Sun Ra Arkestra.
